Description

Provide prompt, comprehensive emergency medical care for acute illnesses and life-threatening conditions in the emergency department. Perform thorough assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose and stabilize patients, and implement treatment plans. Document care accurately and maintain calm, professional performance in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients (history, physical exams, diagnostic workup)

• Diagnose and stabilize life-threatening conditions

• Develop and implement treatment plans for acute medical and surgical emergencies

• Perform emergency procedures such as suturing, wound care, and splinting

• Order and interpret diagnostics (e.g., X-rays, CT scans)

• Prescribe medications and manage pain

• Coordinate care through effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams

• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

• Board certification in emergency, internal, or family medicine (ABEM/ABIM/ABFM/AOA)

• Active and unrestricted Tennessee medical license

• Board certification required

• At least 1 year of ED experience preferred
