Description

Senior/Lead Python Engineer role focused on building and maintaining high-performance, scalable applications within a global banking technology environment. You will enhance VAT recovery, improve regulatory reporting, and implement AI-driven solutions to deliver tangible savings and ensure compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize Python-based applications with clean, scalable, and maintainable code
• Work with large SQL databases: design schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity
• Manage and deploy applications in Linux environments using scripting and automation
• Utilize Git for version control, including branching, merging, and code reviews
• Work within Agile workflows to manage tasks, sprints, and project tracking
• Develop and maintain job scheduling workflows using Autosys
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, application bugs, and system issues
• Mentor junior developers and lead adoption of coding best practices and emerging technologies
• Analyze data to support reporting, analytics, and system improvements

Requirements

• 12+ years of Python development experience with expertise in OOP and software design principles
• Strong SQL skills for complex queries and database optimization
• Hands-on Linux experience (bash scripting and deployment)
• Experience with Autosys for job scheduling
• Proficiency in Git (branching strategies, code versioning, pull requests)
• Agile project management experience, preferably JIRA
• Knowledge of TDD, BDD, and unit testing with PyTest
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and lead technical teams
• Prior experience in banking or financial services
• Fluent English
