Description

You will design scalable Google Cloud data architectures, translate architectural concepts into business value, and set standards that improve operational excellence across the team. In addition to mentorship through pair programming and code reviews, you’ll modernize ETL into standardized ELT frameworks with metadata-driven architectures and defined orchestration rules. You’ll also design security standards, audit logging, and data quality monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable Google Cloud data architectures

• Moderate discovery sessions and challenge/shape client requests during pre-sales and project phases

• Transform ETL scripts into standardized ELT frameworks

• Implement metadata-driven architectures and define orchestration rules

• Design security standards, audit logging, and data quality monitoring

• Act as a technical mentor via pair programming, technical standards, and code reviews

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial data engineering experience with Google Cloud

• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification (expected or to be obtained within the first month)

• Advanced knowledge of Google Cloud services: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Bigtable, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Functions/Run, IAM, Networking

• Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Cloud Build), and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), plus Airflow

• Advanced SQL (window functions, partitioning, clustering in BigQuery) and Python proficiency

• Ability to write clean code and optimize queries and cloud costs

• Excellent communication skills for working with external stakeholders

• English proficiency at least B2
