Description

Work on search relevance at massive scale, building systems that connect shopper queries to the best offers in a catalog of hundreds of millions of products. Collaborate with research and data science teams to deploy ranking models, create automated evaluation pipelines using Large Language Models, and run experiments involving generative AI and semantic search. The role bridges low-latency online services in Java/Kotlin with offline ML processing pipelines powered by Python, Apache Airflow, and Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend services for search relevance (beyond standard CRUD)

• Deploy ranking models with research and data science teams

• Create and maintain automated evaluation pipelines using LLMs

• Run experiments with generative AI and semantic search features

• Ensure code quality and reliability through collaboration and code reviews

Requirements

• Code in Java, Kotlin, or Python with a solid foundation in backend engineering and clean architecture

• Open to working at the intersection of backend engineering and AI/ML

• Care about code quality and reliable solutions; actively share knowledge in code reviews

• Analytical, problem-solving approach to complex challenges affecting millions of users

• Value continuous growth and curiosity to experiment with modern technologies

• English communication skills (at least B2)

• Familiarity or curiosity about ML concepts, data pipelines (Python, Airflow, GCP), and/or LLM and semantic search experimentation
