• Role: Software Engineer II (AI-first, conversational AI / contact center)

Description

You will design, build, and operate production-grade features for an agentic conversational AI runtime that powers next-generation contact center experiences across chat, digital channels, and real-time voice. The work includes agent orchestration, planning/grounding, tool invocation, knowledge retrieval, and the backend services and reliability needed for an enterprise-grade, highly available service on Azure. You will own features end to end, collaborate with senior engineers, and help ensure fairness, safety, privacy, grounding, and reliability through Responsible AI.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and ship reliable, production-grade features across the agentic stack
• Build agentic experiences on the Microsoft Copilot Studio (MCS) runtime: orchestration, planning, grounding, memory, knowledge sources, connectors, the Tool Gateway, and the control plane
• Contribute to real-time voice agents with low-latency, speech-to-speech capabilities and graceful human hand-off
• Build scalable, resilient backend services using event-driven and service mesh patterns; develop high-throughput REST and gRPC APIs; participate in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, on-call, and SLA-driven reliability
• Understand and anticipate customer needs
• Support, review, and deeply understand the software you build; partner with AI/ML, PM, and design
• Embed Responsible AI principles (fairness, safety, privacy, grounding, reliability)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
• Coding experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, and/or Python
• Ability to meet required Microsoft/customer/government security screening requirements
• Pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Benefits

• Base pay range (U.S.): USD $102,100–$202,200 per year (different ranges apply to specific locations, e.g., San Francisco Bay area and NYC metro)
