Description

Operate, monitor, and optimize production applications and AWS cloud infrastructure. Handle production incidents and outages for railway operational systems, performing root-cause analysis. Provision and automate infrastructure with Terraform/OpenTofu, manage Kubernetes clusters (including Karpenter scaling), and deploy containerized apps using Docker, Helm, and Flux in a GitOps model.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize AWS production applications and cloud infrastructure
• Troubleshoot outages, manage incidents, and perform root-cause analysis
• Provision and automate infrastructure using Terraform and OpenTofu
• Administer Kubernetes clusters and scale nodes with Karpenter
• Deploy and manage containerized applications with Docker, Helm, and Flux (GitOps)
• Configure AWS IAM roles, security policies, and manage encryption keys/secrets with KMS and Secrets Manager
• Maintain Amazon MSK (Kafka) and PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS
• Build observability (dashboards, metrics) and support log analysis with Grafana and OpenSearch
• Automate operational workflows and dependency updates with Python, AWS Lambda, and Renovate
• Maintain runbooks, operating procedures, and architectural documentation

Requirements

• B2 proficiency in German and fluent English
• 3+ years administering AWS cloud environments for production applications
• 3+ years deploying and operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes
• 3+ years provisioning infrastructure as code with Terraform or OpenTofu
• 3+ years in production cloud operations, monitoring, and incident management
• 3+ years operating production IT applications within railway operational processes
• Practical experience with Grafana, OpenSearch, Helm, and Flux
• Working knowledge of AWS IAM, Secrets Manager, KMS, and PostgreSQL on AWS RDS
• Scripting skills with Python and AWS Lambda
• Experience with Amazon MSK (Kafka) and Kubernetes node scaling via Karpenter
