Senior Manufacturing Hardware Development Engineer (AI/ML & Storage)

Senior

147,000 - 210,000 USD/yr

Seattle, WA

Quick Facts

  • Role: Senior Manufacturing Hardware Development Engineer (Manufacturing)

  • Focus: Cloud storage server platforms for AI/ML and large-scale storage

Description

Own manufacturing engineering for cloud storage server platforms deployed at global scale, from early manufacturability/DFx engagement through EVT/DVT/PVT NPI and production ramp with ODM/CM partners. Drive manufacturing quality systems and scaled test/diagnostic tools across multi-ODM networks, improving yield, throughput, cost, and reliability. Collaborate with hardware design teams and stakeholders to close the loop between design intent and manufacturing execution.

Responsibilities

  • Process Quality & Supplier Management: Lead quality control processes across CM/ODM/component vendors; own PFMEAs, Control Plans, and process flows; run RCCA for yield/quality escapes; manage test rack inspections and OK2Ship; conduct factory audits; scale processes across the network.

  • Manufacturing Test, Diagnostics & Debug: Develop/maintain manufacturing test software and diagnostics; debug complex failures across compute/storage/networking/power/thermal domains; perform root cause isolation across firmware/kernel/driver/PCIe/signal/physical layers; build automation to reduce manual triage; define test flows (BFT, functional, stress, burn-in) and analyze yield trends.

  • Automation & Controls: Own automation strategy and ROI; develop manufacturing test fixtures; standardize tooling/fixturing across ODM sites; research and deploy automation techniques; build and deploy CI/CD pipelines for test code in manufacturing environments.

  • DFx, Standards & Cross-Program Reuse: Lead DFX reviews (DFM/DFA/DFT) using mechanical CAD, gerbers, and mock-ups; maintain DFx scorecards and NPI playbooks; define manufacturing standards; drive knowledge reuse; collaborate on simulation/digital twin/throughput modeling.

  • Reliability & Failure Analysis: Own reliability coverage across verticals; monitor fleet quality metrics and component failure modes; correlate failure data with manufacturing lots; align manufacturing diagnostics with field monitoring; drive design/process changes based on telemetry; perform risk assessment and change management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering/technical discipline.

  • 6+ years manufacturing engineering experience in NPI, process development, or production engineering (semiconductor/server/datacenter hardware/electronics/high-tech manufacturing).

  • 3+ years end-to-end NPI product delivery experience from concept through volume production.

  • Hands-on experience with SMT assembly processes/PCB fabrication, or industrial automation/robotics.

  • Strong data analysis skills using JMP, Minitab, Excel, and/or Python.

  • Experience driving quality and schedule execution with multinational JDM/ODM/CM and supplier partners.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription), Basic Life & AD&D, optional Supplemental life, EAP, mental health support, medical advice line, Flexible Spending Accounts, and adoption/surrogacy reimbursement.

  • 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.

  • Sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) as part of compensation.

Base Salary Range (USA): 159,200.00 - 215,300.00 USD annually
