Description

Operate and monitor production business applications in Microsoft Azure using observability capabilities (e.g., dashboards and alerts). Analyze incidents and problems with root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes while automating recurring operations with scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management. Build and run CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies, support scaling/performance/capacity planning, and maintain runbooks and operational documentation for 24x7 availability.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor productive Azure applications and services (Dynatrace dashboards and alerts, derive optimization actions)

• Analyze disruptions via incident and problem management; perform root-cause analyses; fix issues sustainably

• Automate recurring operational tasks with PowerShell and/or Python; implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; use configuration management such as Ansible

• Develop and operate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and design modern deployment strategies

• Ensure application security and availability

• Support planning and implementation of scaling concepts, performance tuning, and capacity planning for business-critical applications

• Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-base articles

• Work closely with development teams and business stakeholders and bring the operations perspective into architecture/design decisions

• Support operational handover of new solutions from projects into regular operations, considering operational readiness

• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure application availability in a 24x7 environment

Requirements

• Completed degree in business informatics, computer science, or comparable qualification

• Several years of experience operating business applications on Microsoft Azure (ideally in complex or regulated environments)

• Very good knowledge of cloud observability and targeted use of metrics and logs for troubleshooting

• Good knowledge of relevant Azure services (App Services, Functions, AKS, Azure SQL, Storage, Key Vault, Service Bus)

• Solid understanding of modern cloud architectures (microservices, containers, event-driven architecture)

• Secure Infrastructure as Code practices (e.g., Terraform)

• Scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python

• Experience building and running CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or Jenkins

• Sound knowledge of Windows Server and Linux; basic understanding of Azure networking and security concepts

• Familiarity with ITIL practices (incident, problem, and change management) and structured, reliable working style

• Analytical, solution-oriented, and accountable approach; ability to stay in control in critical situations

• Clear, audience-appropriate communication; ability to explain technical topics

• Team orientation and willingness to share knowledge

• Advantage: Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, or Azure Solutions Architect

• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations

• Very good German and good English proficiency (written and spoken)
