Description

You will operate, develop, and optimize backup and recovery solutions for hybrid cloud, cloud, and Azure Local environments.

The role includes planning, implementing, and running data protection and restore solutions with Azure Backup, Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS), and enterprise backup products—ensuring reliable backups for Azure/Azure Local workloads (VMs, Storage Accounts, MS SQL/Oracle databases, and AKS).

You will also secure and manage backup for enterprise cloud data in Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, and Azure DevOps, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and revision-safe documentation of backup/restore tests.

Responsibilities

• Operate, further develop, and optimize backup and recovery solutions in Hybrid, Cloud, and Azure Local environments
• Plan, implement, and operate backup and restore solutions based on Azure Backup, MABS, and enterprise backup tools
• Ensure backup and restore for Azure/Azure Local workloads: VMs, Storage Accounts, MS SQL and Oracle databases, and Azure Kubernetes Service
• Ensure backup of enterprise data in cloud services: Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Azure DevOps
• Monitor backup processes, analyze failure cases, and coordinate issue remediation
• Run regular backup and restore tests and document results in a revision-safe manner
• Own monitoring, reporting, and capacity/growth planning for backup infrastructure
• Continuously improve backup, restore, and disaster recovery concepts and support compliance/audit implementations
• Actively contribute to the further development of the hybrid-cloud and Azure Local platform

Requirements

• Completed degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or comparable qualification
• Professional experience operating and administering backup and recovery solutions
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS)
• Experience with Azure Backup for virtual machines, Storage Accounts, and AKS
• Experience operating and securing workloads on Azure, Azure Local, and hybrid infrastructure in KRITIS environments
• Experience with at least one enterprise backup solution (e.g., Veeam, HYCU, Rubrik, Commvault)
• Knowledge of enterprise data backup in cloud services, especially Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, and Azure DevOps
• Experience monitoring backup environments and planning capacity, storage, and resources
• Ability to analyze and resolve backup, restore, and recovery problems
• Structured, independent working style
• Fluent German (C1+) and good English skills
