Description

Lead and scale self-performed engineering and design management across California for high-visibility built environment projects. Own the full design lifecycle from concept through construction documentation and handover, ensuring technical rigor, constructability, and alignment with business goals. Provide executive-ready, first-principles technical leadership across civil, structural, architectural, MEP, controls, and systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale multidisciplinary self-performed engineering and design teams across all building disciplines

• Own the full design lifecycle: concept, schematic design, drafting, modeling, construction documentation, coordination, and handover

• Serve as primary technical/design leader and align with R&D, manufacturing, space planning, and workplace teams

• Drive cross-functional collaboration across space planning, creative design, workplace & facilities, real estate, EHS, and construction

• Champion design for manufacturability, scalability, and sustainability

• Establish design governance: standards, templates, workflows, and review processes for quality and speed

• Mentor and develop engineering and design talent

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (or equivalent experience)

• 7+ years of progressive engineering and design management experience

• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex, high-visibility projects

• Success delivering self-performed/in-house engineering and design (architectural, R&D labs, or high-tech environments preferred)

• Deep technical fluency across structural, architectural, MEP, controls, and site infrastructure

• Proven ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced portfolios under pressure

• Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills

• Visionary mindset with strong coaching and mentorship capabilities
