Description

You will manage and maintain a COBOL-based application in the IBM i / iSeries environment. The role includes monitoring system operation, handling batch processes, analyzing production errors/incidents, and diagnosing issues by reviewing COBOL and CL code and validating DB2 data with SQL. You will collaborate with business users and developers and keep technical documentation up to date.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the application running on IBM i / iSeries

• Monitor system operation and manage batch (batch) processes and executed tasks

• Analyze production errors and incidents and identify their causes

• Analyze existing COBOL code and CL scripts to diagnose application problems

• Verify data in DB2 databases, prepare SQL queries, and explain discrepancies

• Run and control application processes and implement minor CL procedure changes

• Cooperate with business users and development teams to resolve issues

• Prepare and update technical documentation and user instructions for the application

Requirements

• Good knowledge of IBM i / iSeries and IBM i / OS400

• COBOL knowledge enabling code reading, behavior analysis, and error diagnosis

• Good CL language knowledge, including analysis and modification of existing scripts

• Good knowledge of DB2 for IBM i and very good SQL knowledge

• Knowledge of Query/400 (IBM Query for i)

• Ability to work with libraries, objects, jobs, job logs, and spool files in IBM i

• Experience operating batch processes and analyzing production incidents

• Ability to independently diagnose application and data-related issues
