Description

You will maintain and administer a COBOL-based application running on IBM i (iSeries). The role includes monitoring system operation, managing batch processes, investigating production errors/incidents, and analyzing COBOL, CL scripts, and DB2/SQL data issues to find root causes. You will also update technical documentation and collaborate with business users and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and administer the IBM i (iSeries) application

• Monitor system behavior and handle batch processes and job control

• Analyze production errors and incidents and identify causes

• Diagnose issues by reviewing existing COBOL code and CL scripts

• Verify data in DB2, prepare SQL queries, and explain discrepancies

• Run and control application processes; implement minor changes in CL procedures

• Work with business users and development teams to resolve issues

• Prepare and update technical documentation and user instructions

Requirements

• Good knowledge of IBM i (iSeries) environment and IBM i/OS400

• COBOL knowledge to read code, analyze its behavior, and diagnose errors

• CL knowledge to analyze and modify existing scripts

• Good knowledge of DB2 for IBM i and very good SQL skills

• Knowledge of Query/400 (IBM Query for i)

• Ability to work with libraries, objects, jobs, job logs, and spool files in IBM i

• Experience with batch processing and production incident analysis

• Ability to independently diagnose problems related to the application and data
