Description

You will provide technical leadership for the end-to-end delivery of a new Java microservice platform replacing a legacy system. You will mentor and coach team members while working in an Agile environment to implement an event-based, service-oriented architecture using Kafka and container technologies. The solution must follow enterprise engineering and architecture standards and remain consistent across teams and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Build and contribute to a new IT team, providing technical leadership

• Deliver a coherent end-to-end solution meeting functional and non-functional requirements

• Lead migration of a legacy application to a new event-based/service-oriented architecture

• Collaborate with the Solution Architect, Engineering Lead, and other stakeholders

• Ensure compliance with enterprise engineering and architecture standards

• Maintain end-to-end delivery consistency across platforms and teams (e.g., run solution walkthroughs)

• Ensure design and development follow established guidelines and standards

• Perform hands-on development and provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring

Requirements

• Prior technical lead experience with strong solutions design and development capability

• Hands-on experience with Core Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot

• Line management experience

• Experience developing Java services/microservices

• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging technologies (Kafka, MQ)

• Container technology experience (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Object-oriented design

• Experience developing and deploying on Unix/Linux

• Profiling and performance tuning experience

• Testing experience (JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, etc.)

• Agile experience (Scrum, Kanban)

• Database experience (SQL and/or NoSQL)

• Strong technical leadership, organization, communication, problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail

• Willingness to learn and share knowledge; results-oriented mindset for tight deadlines
