Senior, hands-on network engineering role focused on the edge layer of a large-scale global web platform. Hybrid work in Krakow (8 times per month).

Description

Own and engineer the edge networking layer of a global public web platform to keep applications fast, resilient, and secure. You’ll work with Akamai CDN, Akamai WAF, DNS and Global Traffic Management, TLS certificate operations, and Azure networking components connecting the edge to origin infrastructure. The position emphasizes solution design, implementing changes, and troubleshooting complex production issues as a senior technical authority.

Responsibilities

  • Own CDN delivery across a large-scale public web estate, including caching strategy, request routing, origin management, failover, and performance optimization.
  • Manage and continuously improve Akamai WAF policies (rule design, tuning, false-positive analysis, protection updates) and support live security incidents with cybersecurity teams.
  • Configure and operate DNS and Global Traffic Management for resilient routing, regional traffic distribution, load balancing, and high availability.
  • Manage TLS certificates and maintain secure delivery standards across the edge platform.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking components including Application Gateway, Load Balancers, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing between edge and origin.
  • Investigate complex production issues by tracing requests from browser through CDN and network layers to backend services using logs, monitoring platforms, HAR files, curl, and diagnostic tools.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point during incidents impacting availability, performance, or edge security, driving root-cause analysis and long-term improvements.
  • Review technical designs and implementation changes; contribute engineering best practices and share knowledge across the team.
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge articles.

Requirements

  • Hands-on administration of Akamai CDN in production (Property Manager, caching strategies, request routing, origin management, performance optimization).
  • Operational experience with Akamai WAF (App & API Protector or Kona), including policy design, tuning, false-positive management, and response to production attack traffic.
  • Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, caching behavior, headers, and the full request lifecycle from client to origin.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across edge, network, and application layers.
  • Comfort diagnosing issues using HAR files, curl, browser developer tools, and edge logs.
  • Experience with Azure networking: Application Gateway, Load Balancers, NSGs, DNS, traffic routing.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to produce high-quality documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Work on a large-scale enterprise platform where edge technologies directly impact performance, resilience, and security of globally accessible digital services.
  • Real ownership of the edge platform and collaboration with experienced engineers across infrastructure, cloud, and security.
  • Technical challenges that require deep expertise and continuous learning.
