Description

You will operate and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, including installation, provisioning, and performance tuning. The role includes troubleshooting and restoring databases/servers using backups, PITR, and disaster-recovery approaches, as well as selecting and operating ETL/ELT toolchains for data transformations and pipelines. You will also implement data governance covering cataloging, lineage, quality checks, and access controls.

Responsibilities

• Operate MSSQL and PostgreSQL servers: installation, provisioning, and performance optimization
• Troubleshoot incidents and restore databases and servers using backups, PITR, and disaster recovery
• Administer application installations and provide support
• Analyze and define requirements for data transformations; select, integrate, and operate ETL/ELT tools and data pipelines
• Implement data governance: catalog, lineage, data quality checks, and access controls

Requirements

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent qualification
• Multi-year experience administering MSSQL and/or PostgreSQL servers
• Experience building and operating data-processing environments (ETL/ELT pipelines, Data Lake/Warehouse), including proof of work in database migration, consolidation, or disaster-recovery tests
• Secure SQL skills, backup strategies, and performance tuning; experience selecting and connecting data transformation tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow)
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerizing database and ETL components
• Automation skills with PowerShell and Python; baseline knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server; networking fundamentals
• Strong team collaboration and communication; documentation-oriented approach to present technical topics clearly to business teams
