Description

You will design, build, and operate the distributed indexing infrastructure behind DynamoDB secondary indexes, keeping them consistent, performant, and highly available as base table data changes continuously. You will design and evolve a near-real-time replication pipeline that propagates mutations from base tables to secondary indexes, and build lifecycle mechanisms for creation, backfill, compaction, rebalancing, and recovery across partitioned datasets at massive scale. You will also optimize storage, query, and cost efficiency and help integrate indexing infrastructure with DynamoDB partitioning, replication, admission control, and query-processing systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the index replication pipeline for near-real-time mutation propagation
• Build index lifecycle mechanisms: creation, backfill, compaction, rebalancing, recovery
• Optimize storage, query, and cost efficiency of secondary indexes across partitions and regions
• Shape how index creation, maintenance, scaling, and recovery work while data changes at very high request rates
• Drive integration with DynamoDB partitioning, replication, admission control, and query-processing

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
