Description

You will ensure the availability of process control systems and deliver DCS application software projects, including scope definition, cost and schedule estimates, and acceptance. The role includes troubleshooting in hard- and software (second-level support), optimizing control loops and minimizing alarms, and maintaining process documentation and automation concepts. You will also support audits and strengthen cybersecurity in the DCS environment as the site OT security focal point.

Responsibilities

• Ensure system availability and manage lifecycle upgrades (retrofits)

• Analyze and resolve hard- and software faults via second-level support

• Execute DCS application software projects (scope definition, cost estimation, expense and schedule planning, acceptance)

• Optimize control loops and minimize alarms with operations teams

• Ensure cybersecurity in the DCS environment; serve as central OT security contact (Site Security Focal Point)

• Participate in internal/external audits and track and implement resulting actions in the DCS/OT context

• Create, optimize, and maintain process descriptions, guidelines, and instructions for DCS use

• Optimize and further develop existing automation concepts

• Independently handle projects per instructions from the Head of Competence Center

• Collaborate with PCS experts, external technical groups, and institutions

• Act as commissioning/controlling interface with internal and external service providers

• Contribute to evaluating and implementing improvement proposals

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (automation focus) or Computer Science

• Ideally multiple years of experience with Siemens PCS7 including Batch

• Network engineering knowledge (e.g., Ethernet, Profibus)

• Additional advantage: Siemens S7 and HIMA safety systems

• Very good analytical and conceptual skills

• High initiative, strong willingness to learn, and readiness to work in new areas

• Very good German and English skills

• Very good knowledge of MS Office and SAP
