Description

You will lead the end-to-end migration of Jira environments from Server to Cloud, ensuring seamless transitions, data integrity, and optimized configurations. The role includes analyzing current Jira setups, migrating projects and their related data, validating results, and troubleshooting migration errors. You will coordinate with business stakeholders and manage user, access control, SSO integrations, and Cloud-compatible app/plugin transitions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute end-to-end Jira migrations from Jira Server to Jira Cloud

• Analyze existing Jira configurations (projects, workflows, schemes, permissions, screens, automations)

• Identify migration risks, dependencies, and data limitations

• Use Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) and/or third-party migration tools

• Migrate Jira Software, Service Management, and Jira Work Management projects and related data (issues, attachments, comments, custom fields, users, groups, permissions)

• Perform data validation and post-migration reconciliation

• Troubleshoot migration errors and resolve data inconsistencies

• Optimize Jira Cloud configurations using Cloud best practices

• Configure Jira Cloud projects, workflows, permissions, and automation rules

• Manage users, groups, access control, and SSO integrations

• Coordinate app and plugin migration and replacements with Cloud-compatible alternatives

• Maintain documentation of migration steps, configurations, and decisions

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator with hands-on work across Jira Server and Jira Cloud

• Proven experience migrating Jira projects from Data Center/Server to Cloud

• Knowledge of workflows, schemes, custom fields, and permissions for Jira Software and Jira Service Management

• Experience with Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant

• Familiarity with Atlassian Marketplace apps and Cloud compatibility requirements

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously

• Ability to work independently and make migration decisions

• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

• Nice to have: Basic scripting/automation with Automation for Jira or REST APIs
