Description

You will help modernize an Azure-enabled, microservices-based platform that orchestrates more than 300k compute jobs per day. The work focuses on improving reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and developer productivity without disrupting critical Windows workflows. You’ll also develop AI-assisted engineering workflows, drive root-cause fixes for complex pipeline failures, and strengthen secure software-supply-chain practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of multi-quarter initiatives to modernize tools, services, and workflows

• Set technical direction to improve platform reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and developer experience

• Partner with product and Engineering Systems teams to integrate new workflows while protecting compatibility, scale, and operational continuity

• Define measurable success criteria, telemetry, and operational signals to make regressions and customer impact visible

• Develop and improve AI-assisted engineering workflows (investigation, implementation, review, and operational response) with strong validation and engineering judgment

• Diagnose complex failures across source, build orchestration, toolchains, infrastructure, dependencies, and artifact production; implement root-cause fixes

• Advance secure software-supply-chain practices including dependency governance, provenance, artifact integrity, and compliance automation

• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and project leadership

• Lead incident response for high-impact build failures and convert operational learning into systemic reliability improvements

• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents impacting service availability or critical workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding (e.g., C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python) OR equivalent experience

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

• Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Benefits

• Base pay range in the U.S.: USD $119,800–$234,700 per year (location-dependent ranges apply)

• Possible eligibility for additional benefits and compensation
