Description

You will lead the design and development of distributed backend platform capabilities to host and deploy AI models in a restricted Azure Greenfield environment. Build a REST API that allows users to query those models, and use Azure Databricks to deploy and run them. Establish model deployment process and guidelines, including wrapping models with an MLflow wrapper.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy backend platform capabilities in a restricted Azure Greenfield environment

• Design a querying API for users

• Leverage Azure Databricks to host and deploy models

• Define model deployment process and guidelines (including MLflow wrapping and API shape)

• Implement CI/CD best practices using GitLab to ensure code quality, testing, and deployment automation

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5+ data engineers

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience; 2+ years in a leadership role

• Expert Python skills and experience with core data engineering libraries (Python Core, multithreading, async, REST APIs, exceptions handling, Pydantic)

• Strong Azure experience, including Azure Databricks, Azure App Service, and IAM/RBAC

• Proficiency with CI/CD workflows, GitLab version control, and DevOps practices

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

• Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced agile environment

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
