Software Integration Engineer Intern (Factory Firmware)

Description

This internship bridges vehicle/bot software and the manufacturing environment to improve manufacturability, production uptime, and product quality. You will build and enhance factory software tools, improve testing infrastructure, and design features that optimize manufacturing operations for rate, quality, safety, and efficiency. The work spans embedded device code through server-side automation and tooling, requiring curiosity to connect multiple interfaces and design end-to-end solutions.

Responsibilities

• Identify software improvements to aid in bringing up new products and factories
• Build software tools to diagnose and troubleshoot electronic system issues in vehicles and bots
• Develop improvements to the testing infrastructure used in the factory
• Design features to optimize manufacturing operations for rate, quality, safety, and efficiency
• Build technical expertise across multiple subsystems to integrate seamlessly into manufacturing
• Understand and debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Systems Engineering, or a related field (graduation May 2027–May 2028)
• Hands-on debugging experience with complex subsystems involving software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience deploying code to production
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, and virtual machines
• Experience developing or integrating multiple software systems
• First-principles approach to unfamiliar problems and system design
• Ability to prioritize and split time across multiple large-scale projects
• Experience with one or more of: Golang, Ruby, C++ (preferred)

Expected Compensation

$50.06–$58.89 per hour + benefits (pay may vary based on location and individual factors).
