Description

You will lead a strategic transformation program as a Java Technical Lead, designing architecture and making technical decisions while actively coding and developing a modern, data-driven ecosystem for claims and benefits. The role focuses on microservices, API and system integrations, quality (performance, security, scalability), and engineering practices such as CI/CD and observability. You will also mentor developers and support the use of AI/agentic AI tools to automate parts of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Java solutions using microservices architecture
• Build, develop, and maintain APIs and integrate with the EIS platform and group systems
• Co-create system architecture and make technical decisions aligned with the program
• Ensure delivered solutions meet quality, performance, security, and scalability requirements
• Apply architectural patterns, Event-Driven Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design
• Participate in analysis, design, and estimation of business and technical requirements
• Support Product Owners, analysts, and architects in feasibility assessment and identifying technical risks
• Run Discovery and Inception workshops; decompose Epics into Features; prepare the backlog
• Lead code reviews, run mentoring, and grow the team’s technical capabilities
• Help troubleshoot technical issues and maintain high software engineering standards
• Collaborate with project, architecture, integration teams, and external suppliers
• Support CI/CD, observability, and DevOps process practices
• Maintain developer, integration, and test environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Identify, analyze, and escalate technical risks impacting the program
• Support adoption of AI and agentic AI tools for software development and automation

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience designing and building web systems
• Excellent Java knowledge and willingness to actively code for ~75% of the time
• Practical experience in microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Excellent knowledge of architectural and integration patterns
• Experience designing APIs and integrating systems
• Practical knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Practical knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture
• Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and query optimization
• Practical knowledge of end-to-end observability
• Knowledge of application security principles
• Experience with code review, mentoring, and leading a technical team
• Experience collaborating across teams and co-owning technical decisions and risk assessment
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• English at least B2
• Willingness to provide services in Poland and work hybrid in Warsaw
