Description

You will implement and customize the Guidewire core insurance system, collaborating within an agile project team and acting as a client “sparring partner.” The role includes architecture-aware solution design, team leadership, compliance with project scope, knowledge sharing, and production of technical documentation (e.g., BPMN, UML).

Responsibilities

• Implement and customize Guidewire core insurance system using JVM-based technologies (Java/Gosu)
• Lead IT solution design considering architecture constraints
• Advise clients and facilitate workshops; translate business needs into technical solutions
• Independently lead a project team and ensure timely delivery
• Monitor compliance with project scope, spread best practices, and share knowledge across teams
• Create well-structured technical documentation (e.g., BPMN, UML)
• Work directly with clients as part of an agile project team

Requirements

• 4+ years of commercial software development experience using Java or Gosu
• At least 1 year of leadership experience as a Tech Lead or Architect
• Fluency in English and German (B2/C1 or higher)
• Solid hands-on experience with systems integration and/or the insurance domain
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and clean code
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to bridge business and technical requirements and facilitate workshops
• Experience estimating effort and identifying potential risks
• Hands-on experience with at least one of: REST/SOAP web services, Microservices, JMS, Spring (or similar)
• Willingness to travel regularly (client-side work may be required)
• Ability to work in the European Union
