Description

Help detect and reduce harmful behavior by building scalable data-driven models and dashboards for fraud and abuse risk. You will work end-to-end—from framing the problem and preparing data to feature engineering, model evaluation on business metrics, and communicating results so stakeholders can take action.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, prioritize, and prepare data from multiple sources, ensuring quality and clear definitions/limitations

  • Perform exploratory analysis to identify patterns, segments, and signals for risk and policy decisions

  • Engineer and select features to improve model quality and stability over time

  • Apply statistical methods to describe distributions, relationships, and uncertainty

  • Implement machine learning approaches suited to the problem (classification, ranking, clustering)

  • Evaluate models using business-aligned metrics (e.g., precision/recall tradeoffs, calibration, segment performance) and iterate

  • Interpret results, surface key drivers and caveats, and present them for both technical and non-technical teams

  • Create charts and narratives for reviews, documentation, and operational readouts

  • Partner with product, engineering, and operations to turn questions into scoped analyses and shipped solutions

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in data science or equivalent analytics with examples of end-to-end work

  • Strong programming in Python, including data manipulation and ML libraries

  • Solid SQL and experience working with relational or warehouse-style data

  • Grounding in statistics and machine learning, especially for rare event detection and highly imbalanced datasets

  • Strong written and verbal communication, able to simplify technical work while retaining important tradeoffs

Benefits

  • Eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant; C08+ may be eligible for annual bonus

  • Comprehensive insurance and benefits (medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, accident)

  • Parental leave and family services benefits; backup dependent care; flexible spending accounts

  • Telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and discounts

  • Unlimited PTO for exempt salary team members (subject to manager approval) and six paid holidays per year

  • May be eligible for paid sick and family leave per applicable regulations
