Description

You’ll join SAP Platform Operations to help keep SAP landscapes secure, available, and running smoothly across on-premise and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and RISE with SAP. The role focuses on day-to-day SAP Basis administration plus involvement in conversions, migrations, upgrades, patching, and continuous modernization during the move from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. You’ll also contribute to automation, monitoring operations, security activities, and disaster recovery testing.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support SAP landscapes (S/4HANA, SAP ECC, NetWeaver, Fiori/Gateway, Web Dispatcher) independently with limited supervision

• Resolve incidents, service requests, and Basis-level changes; perform initial root-cause/performance analysis and escalate non-standard cases

• Support project activities such as client/system copies, kernel and SPS patching, database and OS upgrades, and S/4HANA conversions/migrations to cloud and RISE with SAP

• Perform regular security patching (SAP Security Notes), renew certificates, support system hardening, and manage SSO/identity integration (SAML, Microsoft Entra ID)

• Execute backup/restore and disaster-recovery operations and testing, including high-availability setups

• Monitor and maintain alerting and existing monitoring configurations using SAP Cloud ALM, Solution Manager / Focused Run, or third-party tools

• Automate repetitive Basis tasks (shell/PowerShell scripting, SAP LaMa) and perform transport/release management

• Standardize tasks, document processes, share knowledge, and support less senior colleagues

• Develop technical skills toward a chosen specialization domain

Requirements

• 3–7 years of hands-on SAP Basis administration experience (scope adjusted accordingly)

• Working experience with SAP HANA administration; knowledge of an additional database (Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, Sybase ASE) is an advantage

• Very good understanding of kernel upgrades, SPS/patching, and client/system copy operations

• Experience with SAP on Azure/AWS/GCP or RISE with SAP/private cloud edition

• Knowledge of Linux (SLES/RHEL) and/or Windows Server administration

• Experience with SAP monitoring/operations tooling (SAP Cloud ALM, Solution Manager / Focused Run, Dynatrace, Xandria or similar)

• Ability to independently prove and develop technical skills over the long term

• Very good written and spoken English

• Good working knowledge of ITIL 4 and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA)
