Description

Support the pharmacy team with safe, clean operations and customer-focused service. Provide drug counseling and assist with over-the-counter recommendations, while accurately processing and dispensing prescriptions. Assist with immunizations under the supervision of the pharmacist and help meet department quality and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe, clean environment for customers

• Answer product questions for customers and prescribers

• Maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products and discuss them with customers and prescribers

• Provide drug counseling

• Recommend over-the-counter medications

• Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system

• Dispense the correct medication

• Contact prescribers’ offices for authorization when needed

• Bag filled prescriptions and deliver accurately to customers

• Process third-party insurance information; contact insurance companies on customers’ behalf if necessary

• Facilitate charge purchases

• Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions accurately for fill/refill

• Clean the department

• Compare and check incoming orders; stock properly

• Return unused medication stock bottles to stock

• Notify management of customer or employee accidents

• Notify the pharmacist on duty if aware of a prescription incident

• Report safety risks, robbery/theft/fraud, and other illegal activity

• Provide immunizations under pharmacist supervision
