Description

You will collaborate with scientists and stakeholders to translate complex research questions into intuitive, actionable visual solutions. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and analytical applications primarily in Spotfire, supported by analytical scripting in R and Python.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand research questions and decision-making needs
• Facilitate requirement discussions and translate scientific/business needs into technical and visualization requirements
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and analytical applications in Spotfire
• Create clear, intuitive visualizations from complex scientific and analytical data
• Develop and maintain R and Python functions for data preparation, statistical analysis, modeling, and visualization
• Apply data visualization and user-experience best practices for informative, accessible, and easy-to-use dashboards
• Prepare, transform, validate, and integrate data from multiple sources
• Optimize dashboard performance, data loading, usability, and maintainability
• Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to dashboard users
• Develop reusable visualization components and support shared development standards
• Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams on integration, security, access, and deployment
• Stay current on developments in Spotfire, data visualization, analytical programming, and scientific data analysis

Requirements

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams across varying technical expertise
• Experience gathering and translating user needs into practical analytical solutions
• Experience building interactive dashboards in Spotfire or comparable tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik)
• Strong understanding of data visualization principles and visual communication
• Coding experience in R and/or Python for data preparation, analysis, statistical methods, or application development
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to data quality and detail
• Curiosity and willingness to understand scientific questions, data, and workflows
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in data science, computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, natural sciences, engineering, or a related field
