Description

You will partner with the CTO to design and evolve the backend architecture, solve the most complex production problems, and help set the technical direction for the next 1–3 years while staying close to the code. The role includes technical standards, code reviews, mentoring, and improving engineering productivity through automation, AI-assisted development, better testing, CI/CD, and internal tooling. AI should amplify your reasoning—not replace it.

Responsibilities

• Backend architecture design and evolution (application logic, integrations, and data layer)

• Troubleshoot and solve complex production issues (database performance, scaling integrations, data processing, new architecture components)

• Set and enforce production code quality standards; perform code review for human and AI-assisted code

• Prepare analyses for complex technical solutions and manage trade-offs with the CTO

• Mentor developers with high-quality feedback and help improve how the team works with code and AI tools

• Increase engineering productivity using automation, AI agents, testing, CI/CD, and internal tooling

• Collaborate with Product from concept to production

Requirements

• 5+ years backend development experience, ideally C#/.NET

• Ability to design systems and understand architecture; can explain, defend, and change decisions when better approaches appear

• Experience handling complex production problems

• Ability to write high-quality code and know when additional abstractions add no value

• Can lead technical discussions and drive the team to decisions

• Can give and receive concrete feedback

• Takes ownership of decisions and delivers to completion

• Uses AI coding tools effectively and understands what is sent to production
