Senior Analytics Engineer (Contract)

Senior • Remote

120 - 150 PLN/yr

Wrocław, Poland

Quick Facts

  • Role: Senior Analytics Engineer (Contract)
  • Collaboration: Head of Operations & Data plus an analytics engineer
  • Project scope: Rebuild the analytics transformation layer and KPI semantics for consistent, repeatable reporting

Description

You will build an organized analytics data layer to eliminate inconsistent models, manual spreadsheets, and fragmented knowledge—focusing on transformations (dimensional model, shared KPI definitions, faster and repeatable analysis delivery). The work includes defining the final mart architecture with business stakeholders, creating an AI-ready data layer with metadata, and implementing production-ready dimensional models with testing and alerting. The current stack uses BigQuery with Cloud Run and Cloud Storage and transforms in dataform, while a migration is underway to dlt + Dagster + dbt and a BI layer in Looker/Data Studio.

Responsibilities

  • Audit the current setup: inventory data sources, scripts, dashboards, and KPI definitions; identify inconsistencies and where manual work occurs
  • Collaborate with business to define KPI definitions and analytics needs; establish priorities and confirm the target mart version
  • Design the target architecture: raw/staging/mart layers, dimensional model with a gold layer, naming conventions, and ownership rules
  • Build an AI-ready layer for specific business questions, including wide tables and supporting metadata/definitions
  • Implement dimensional models in priority order, starting with the areas with the most manual effort; deliver production-ready models
  • Set up tests for critical models and implement alerting
  • Apply GDPR/PII requirements: data minimization, retention rules, and strict access control (children and parent data)
  • Support handover: work on shared code, participate in reviews, and document the approach for ongoing maintenance

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data/Analytics Engineer, including ownership of a data warehouse or key modeling layer
  • Advanced BigQuery experience with cost and query performance management
  • Transformations-as-code using dataform or dbt, with versioning, tests, documentation, and CI
  • Proven experience standardizing KPI definitions across the organization
  • Experience preparing models and metadata/definitions for safe and repeatable AI tool workflows
  • Availability during team working hours (8–9 to 16–17)
  • Practical GDPR/PII experience (minimization, retention, and access control), especially given data about children
