Mid • On-site

55,000 - 65,000 EUR/yr

Berlin, Germany

Quick Facts

  • Focus: development of electronic hardware, embedded software, and wireless communication solutions for emergency response
  • Scope: from concept and prototyping to production readiness, including testing, measurement, and documentation

Description

You will design and construct electronic hardware components, develop and program embedded systems and microcontrollers, and define interfaces between hardware, embedded software, sensors, and radio subsystems. The role emphasizes integration of radio-based solutions—especially using LoRa and/or mioty—and taking prototypes through setup, commissioning, testing, and further development until production readiness. You will perform measurements, functional tests, error analysis, and create the accompanying technical documentation, including support for customer and safety research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, develop, and design electronic hardware components (circuit design, PCB design, component selection)
  • Develop and program embedded systems and microcontrollers in C/C++
  • Develop and define interfaces between hardware, embedded software, sensing, radio, and other system components
  • Build, commission, test, and further develop prototypes up to series maturity
  • Conduct measurements, functional checks, error analysis, and produce technical documentation
  • Plan and contribute to manufacturing, assembly, and testing of small series; transition prototypes to series-ready solutions
  • Develop and manufacture mechanical components and prototype parts, including with 3D printing
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, product specifications, test materials, and development records
  • Technical contribution to customer projects and safety research projects from requirements analysis through implementation

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Embedded Systems, Information Technology, Mechatronics) or comparable technical qualification
  • Experience in hardware development and/or embedded software development
  • Microcontroller development/programming knowledge (ideally ARM/STM32) with C/C++
  • Circuit and PCB design experience with PCB layout (ideally KiCad)
  • Experience with electronic measurement and test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter)
  • Experience building, testing, and troubleshooting electronic prototypes and assemblies
  • Wireless/radio communications knowledge; LoRa and/or mioty experience is a plus
  • Independent, structured, solution-oriented approach
  • Willingness to support customer-side assembly and commissioning (as needed, across Germany)
  • Very good German (C2) and interest in technical collaboration

Benefits

  • Meaningful work on future-oriented emergency-response communication solutions
  • Opportunity to shape solutions from first idea through prototype to real product deployment
  • Flexible working hours (part-time or full-time options)
  • 30 days of vacation
  • Contributions for retirement savings and kindergarten support
  • Attractive contract terms with market-standard conditions
  • Short decision paths and room for independent technical work
  • Partially mobile work possible
