Description

IBM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT an Entry-Level IBM Z Systems Programmer, supporting mission-critical z/OS environments used by IBM development organizations and strategic business initiatives.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of IBM Z infrastructure
• Support z/OS operating system maintenance activities, including upgrades, service implementation, and testing
• Monitor system performance and availability to ensure reliable and efficient operations
• Participate in incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management activities
• Support storage, networking, security, and middleware teams in maintaining a stable IBM Z environment
• Develop automation and operational efficiencies using scripting and IBM tools
• Assist in system documentation, operational procedures, and technical standards
• Participate in infrastructure projects involving modernization, automation, and platform enhancements
• Collaborate with development, engineering, and operations teams across IBM
• Learn and apply IBM Z technologies through mentoring, training, and hands-on experience

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
• Basic understanding of operating systems, networking, and enterprise computing concepts
• Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as REXX, Python, Java, C/C++, or similar
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated willingness to learn emerging technologies and enterprise infrastructure platforms
