Senior Mainframe IBM Z Storage Engineer

As a Senior Mainframe IBM Z Storage Engineer, you will focus on zSeries storage management within a complex, large-scale environment, designing, supporting, and optimizing critical storage systems to ensure seamless enterprise operations.

Your main responsibilities

• Design, install, upgrade, and support IBM DS8K disk hardware, including scripting with DSCLI and HMC GUI management.
• Configure and maintain IBM Virtual Tape Solutions (TS7700) hardware, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage Broadcom (Brocade) DCX hardware with FICON/FIBRE concepts utilizing SanNav and Maps tools.
• Oversee IBM storage software such as DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, DFSMS (including OAM), TDMF, and GDPS.
• Support and troubleshoot Broadcom (CA) tools: CA1, CA Vantage, CA Disk, CA Allocate, CA View.
• Collaborate with other teams using Dino Software (T-Rex, Terradon) for system monitoring and automation.
• Utilize core IBM z/OS knowledge including TSO, SDSF, JCL, IDCAMS, and IWS to ensure system integrity and performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with IBM zSeries Storage Management.
• Strong knowledge of IBM DS8K disk hardware installation, design, upgrades, and scripting (DSCLI), with familiarity with HMC GUI.
• Experience with IBM Virtual Tape Solutions (TS7700) hardware and software support.
• Proven skills in configuring and managing Broadcom (Brocade) DCX hardware, FICON, and FIBRE concepts.
• Knowledge of IBM storage software tools: DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, DFSMS (including OAM), TDMF, GDPS.
• Familiarity with Broadcom (CA) tools: CA1, CA Vantage, CA Disk, CA Allocate, CA View.
• Experience working with Dino Software (T-Rex, Terradon) and core z/OS components such as TSO, SDSF, JCL, IDCAMS, IWS.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of zSeries Systems Programming concepts and technologies.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments, including change and incident management.
• Capacity planning and scalability expertise with practical forecasting skills.
