Compensation: Estimated salary range $95,900.00–$127,800.00 (Massachusetts). Variable annual bonus may apply based on company, team, and/or individual performance.

Description

The R&D group at the Tewksbury site designs and maintains handheld chemical identification analyzers (Raman and IR spectrometers) and elemental analyzers (XRF spectrometers). This position supports new product development and sustaining activities, requiring extensive experience in circuit and PCB design for both digital and analog systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a multi-functional engineering team to bring new products to market
  • Improve design efficiencies, mitigate risk, reduce cost, and enhance overall product quality
  • Execute high speed digital design using microcontrollers and FPGAs; assess PCB layout fidelity
  • Perform analog circuit design including power conversion, low-noise signal amplification/conversion, circuit impedance, and motor control
  • Design for EMC and ESD compliance (IEC61010)
  • Use electrical test instruments for validation testing and root cause analysis on small form factor PCB designs
  • Own projects and tasks; proactively address technical challenges
  • Support improvement and implementation of product design processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Deep understanding of microcontroller/FPGA based circuit design and communication bus architectures
  • Proven analog design background in one or more areas: precision signal measurement, power conversion, motor control, antenna design (or other)
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Cadence and/or Altium preferred)
  • Strong high speed PCB design expertise: stack-up definition, impedance control, grounding strategy, materials
  • Detailed understanding of DFM/DFA constraints and component layout (IPC standards)
  • Understanding of the physics behind ESD and EMI mitigation
  • Strong organization, communication, and project management skills
