Description

Remote System Design Engineer role focused on IoT-enabled industrial control systems for air compressor automation. You will support the sales process as the EcoPlant controls expert, design system architecture and produce technical documentation for installation, and provide technical expertise for troubleshooting of installed systems. You will also liaise with product management to provide feedback on product design and enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales support to the sales team as the technical expert and participate in customer calls to address objections.
  • Answer customer questions on architecture and data security protocols.
  • Occasionally perform site surveys/audits to qualify or design complex installations.
  • Design system architecture for new installations: select hardware and sensor location, generate BOM, create P&ID, and identify compressor integration strategy.
  • Provide technical specifications to the Engine team to finalize Dynamic Engine design.
  • Build the customer dashboard prior to installation and provide remote technical support during installation.
  • Complete technical/system documentation post-deployment, including as-builts, register mapping, and compressor integration details.
  • Manage troubleshooting for technical issues post-installation and coordinate escalation to product management and R&DE as required.
  • Liaise with product management to provide feedback on product design, enhancements, and product roadmap.
  • Support training and onboarding of new associates with technical product training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and/or combination of education plus at least 5 years of related industrial controls support experience.
  • Demonstrated system architecture design experience for industrial systems.
  • 2+ years industrial IT/networking experience and willingness to learn/install IoT devices, including advanced industrial communication protocols.
  • 2+ years customer service experience in a technical industry.
  • Ability to read blueprints & schematics and strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of IoT communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, TCP/IP), networking, and data security.
  • Ability to manage multiple urgent issues in parallel.
  • Proficient with computer applications such as Google and Microsoft Office suite (including PowerPoint and Excel).
