Description

Network Engineer role supporting DISA-provided GIG capabilities and services in a Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Operations Support Cell.

Responsibilities

  • Execute network operations, including configuration and analysis of customer circuits across optical/electro-optical multiplexers, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), routers, and switches.
  • Perform real-time circuit redesign (alternate routing) to restore customer connectivity during scheduled and unscheduled outages and maintenance.
  • Work with supported customers and engineers across other NOCs to ensure maximum network availability and minimize mission/operational impact.
  • Proactively monitor network alarms using platform-specific network management tools.
  • Utilize incident management applications to document outages/degradations, isolations, escalations, and resolutions across the incident lifecycle.
  • Assess and recommend resolutions to network incidents/deficiencies using knowledge of routers, switches, crypto devices, Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, MSPP, DWDM, Optical Switching, SONET/SDH, and satellite communications.

Requirements

  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start date
  • BS degree with 2–4 years relevant experience OR Masters with <2 years relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience)
  • Able to work in a 24x7 shift work environment
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Working knowledge and understanding of both Transport and IP network topologies
