Description

As a Senior Data Engineer on the Marketing Customer Profile team under Growth Alliance, you will design and scale the foundational data layer that powers high-impact personalization and real-world segmentation. You will integrate diverse data sources into a unified customer view, enabling advanced AI/ML modeling and real-time marketing activations, and optimize Databricks-based infrastructure so data powers every personalized customer journey. The work is done in autonomous, cross-functional agile teams where you collaborate with product, engineering, analytics, and business intelligence partners.

Responsibilities

• Architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of data pipelines using DevOps practices, pair programming, and cutting-edge methodologies
• Contribute as a solution-oriented member of autonomous cross-functional agile teams with Product Owners, Back-end Engineers, Front-end Engineers, Product Analysts, and Business Intelligence teams
• Act as a technical expert on HelloFresh’s core product and architecture; support colleagues with software solutions
• Work with state-of-the-art technologies: AWS (EMR, Glue, s3), Kafka, PySpark, Kubernetes, Airflow, Prefect, Tecton, Databricks, and in-house data pipeline tools

Requirements

• Strong background in data engineering with a focus on writing clean, maintainable Python code
• Proficient in cloud platforms and data technologies such as PySpark and Kubernetes (streaming technologies is a plus)
• Skilled in designing scalable data models and working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and object stores (e.g., AWS S3)
• Basic understanding of backend development
• Track record of building and optimizing efficient, reliable data pipelines
• Commitment to ensuring data quality, implementing monitoring practices, and maintaining high testing standards across the development lifecycle
• Comfortable in agile environments with fast iterations, lean principles, and continuous delivery
• Solid hands-on experience working with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond casual experimentation, including practical awareness of how outputs can fail and strong habits around verifying, testing, and setting boundaries on AI-generated work
