How do we transform a customer into an engaged user? In the Loyalty & Virality Tribe, we own the relationship. We are the architects of the HelloFresh Rewards and Loyalty ecosystem, where our goal is to create a sticky experience that delights members and keeps them coming back.

You’ll contribute to a high-cadence team focused on one primary goal: Loyalty Member ROI. The team builds reasons for millions of users to engage with reward points, explore new products, and feel valued throughout their journey—from the shopping funnel and beyond.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Drive Loyalty ROI: Design and ship features across the Loyalty and Rewards domain that encourage members to earn, track, and spend their points.
• Backend Ownership: Design, develop, and deploy high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs in the Loyalty and Rewards domain. Ensure end-to-end delivery by collaborating closely with frontend and mobile engineering teams.
• High-Velocity Iteration: Help maintain an aggressive development cadence, turning hypotheses into live experiments in days, not weeks.
• Shape the Backlog: Contribute to the hypothesis backlog, helping decide what is built based on customer-behavior data.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• Agentic Engineering: Meaningful experience using AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot, in a regular workflow. Use AI agents as thought partners to onboard unfamiliar codebases and navigate new areas of code. Understand how task framing affects result quality, where AI assistance requires closer supervision, and build verification habits.
• Backend Engineering: At least 3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying scalable backend services. Go and/or PHP proficiency is preferred; JVM-language experience, such as Java or Kotlin, plus willingness to learn Golang is also welcome. Cloud-technology familiarity is a plus.
• Microservices and Distributed Systems: Strong backend-development background focused on microservices and distributed systems. Ability to build event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS/SNS. Deep understanding of seamless backend integration with web and mobile clients.
• Database Expertise: Deep understanding of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL and MySQL. Familiarity with non-relational databases, such as document or key-value stores, and/or GraphQL is a plus.
• System Integration Focus: Strong understanding of the full system landscape and ability to ensure seamless, resilient integration across services and domains.
