Solution Architect

Senior • Remote

Wrocław, DS, Poland

Quick Facts

Independent Technical Advisor to provide ongoing technical assurance on an in-house custom software project in the travel/hospitality industry, developed by an external software house.

Description

Work independently of the vendor to evaluate architecture, code quality, integrations, security, and documentation so the system stays sound, maintainable, and transferable to another vendor if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposed architecture for fit with business scale and MVP timeline; flag unnecessary complexity or technical debt.
  • Assess the data model, module boundaries, and placement of business logic.
  • Assess the integration and data migration strategy from the legacy system.
  • Agree on minimum standards for security, testing, logging, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Review repository structure and access rules; require work via feature branches, pull requests, and code review rather than direct changes to the production branch.
  • Periodically review the quality of key code and compliance with agreed standards.
  • Assess automated testing, CI/CD process, deployment approach, rollback, and change control.
  • Check that technical documentation is produced continuously, not only at the end of the project.
  • Assess APIs, synchronization, error handling, retries, message queues, versioning, and integration monitoring.
  • Assess system resilience to external partner outages and data errors.
  • Assess the migration strategy: export, cleanup, deduplication, partial migration, archiving, and validation.
  • Check whether another vendor could take over development without unjustified lock-in to the current one.
  • Assess documentation of APIs, infrastructure, configuration, dependencies, and deployment scripts.
  • Provide a technical assessment of third-party components and licenses (contractual and IP matters remain with IT legal counsel).
  • Document risks and recommendations in writing.

Requirements

  • Around 10+ years of technical seniority; background as Software/Solution Architect, Principal Engineer, CTO, Head of Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience designing or auditing large business systems; ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs.
  • Practical experience in code review, technical due diligence, or accepting systems built by other teams.
  • Documented experience with systems involving many APIs and integrations with external services.
  • Experience with data migrations, legacy systems, poor data quality, and archiving.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, environments, backups, observability, and basic cloud/infrastructure concepts.
  • Good understanding of application security, authorization, access control, and data protection, and ability to identify areas requiring a specialist audit or pentest.
  • Experience assessing system transferability, documentation, repository setup, and vendor dependency.
  • No financial or operational relationship with the vendor; willingness to challenge the vendor's recommendations.
  • Good communication skills in English or German.

Benefits

  • Join for a role, stay for the development: more than 40% of the team works longer than 5 years.
  • Learn from the best: almost 60% of colleagues have over 10 years of professional experience.
  • Flexibility: fully remote, or full-time from the office in Wroclaw, or a hybrid model.
  • Private medical care, life insurance, sport card.
