Tech Lead (Java / Angular)

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Lead Developer with strong expertise in Java, Angular and Elasticsearch to join a team responsible for developing and maintaining business-critical web applications in a complex, data-driven environment.

This is a technical leadership role for someone who enjoys staying close to the code. You will combine hands-on software development with technical leadership, architecture discussions, code reviews and ensuring high engineering standards across the applications.

Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in software development, including experience in a senior or technical leadership role.
• Strong, hands-on expertise in Java and backend application development.
• Proven, recent experience working with Elasticsearch in a production environment.
• Good practical knowledge of Angular, including the ability to develop and confidently review frontend code.
• Strong experience with SQL and practical exposure to Snowflake.
• Experience working with multiple systems, APIs and application integrations.
• Good understanding of application architecture, distributed systems and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and version control.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership.
• Good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of the development and evolution of modern, business-critical web applications.
• Design, develop and maintain backend services and application integrations using Java.
• Work hands-on with Elasticsearch in a production environment, including designing, implementing and reviewing search-related solutions.
• Contribute to frontend development using Angular and perform thorough code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Work with Snowflake, SQL and multiple data sources to support application functionality and data integration.
• Act as a key technical reviewer for Java and Elasticsearch solutions and support high-quality engineering practices across the team.
• Participate in architectural and technical decision-making at the application level.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, data teams, product stakeholders and other technical teams.
• Drive best practices around code quality, testing, security, performance and maintainability.
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Identify technical risks and propose practical, scalable solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and engineering standards.
