Infrastructure Consultant (Backup)

Your role

As a Backup Administrator, you will help protect and ensure the availability of critical business data by managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions. You will play a key role in maintaining data integrity, supporting disaster recovery readiness, and ensuring compliance with retention and security requirements. Working closely with technical teams, you will help deliver reliable, secure, and effective data protection services across the organization.

Your tasks

  • Administer and maintain enterprise backup systems, including Networker, Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, and IBM Spectrum Protect.
  • Design, implement, and manage backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies.
  • Monitor backup operations, resolve failures, and perform root cause analysis to improve service reliability.
  • Perform restore activities and recovery testing to validate backup integrity and support disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage offsite backup storage and ensure secure data transfer and storage practices.
  • Implement and monitor backup encryption and data protection measures in line with security and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with system and database administrators to support backup and recovery processes for business-critical applications.
  • Monitor backup storage capacity, forecast future needs, and maintain backup documentation, configurations, and disaster recovery plans.

Your profile

  • 2+ years of experience in backup administration and data protection.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions such as Networker, Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, or IBM Spectrum Protect.
  • Solid understanding of backup and recovery best practices, including full, incremental, differential, and synthetic backups.
  • Experience working with backup technologies and storage systems, including tape libraries, cloud storage, and disk-to-disk backups.
  • Understanding of backup encryption, compression, and deduplication technologies.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Experience managing backup policies, scheduling, retention requirements, and regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR and HIPAA.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills when working with technical teams and stakeholders.
