Requirements

• Hands-on experience with server and network device installation
• Understanding of rack layouts, PDUs, cabling standards, and labelling
• Basic networking knowledge: LAN, patching, switches
• Familiarity with asset management and inventory systems
• Ability to follow change management and data center procedures
• Basic troubleshooting of hardware components
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
• Proficiency in Rack & Stack procedures
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently
• Manual handling proficiency for lifting heavy data center and IT equipment
• Ability to work in a data center environment, including noise, cold, and confined spaces
• Category B driving licence

Responsibilities

• Commissioning, decommissioning, and installation: physically install data center components, servers, and network switches; perform initial power-on tests.
• Cabling: verify and maintain data center cabling; ensure correct routing through designated pathways, secure mounting and fastening, and accurate end-to-end labelling for power and network runs.
• Stores & logistics: maintain a tidy data center store, accept deliveries, ensure equipment is ready for further processing after arrival, and own the full hardware lifecycle, including commissioning and decommissioning.
• Audit & reporting: conduct regular inventory audits, update asset registers, and provide detailed capacity and hardware-health reporting as needed.
• Hardware maintenance: replace faulty components and manage the RMA process in cooperation with the Data Center Contract Manager.
• Capacity planning: plan rack layouts and oversee third-party contractors when requested.
• Documentation: maintain the maintenance management system and prepare notifications for planned maintenance windows.
• Prepare and perform changes to the data center and IT core infrastructure.
