Position Overview

Blue Sky Innovators is seeking an experienced USAF Operational Subject Matter Expert (SME) with over 15 years of experience to provide expert support to the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition (SAF/AQL). This position requires deep knowledge of U.S. Air Force operational requirements, systems engineering, and strategic defense systems. You will play a pivotal role in systems engineering services, operational analysis, and strategic decision-making in support of critical SAF/AQL programs.

Clearance

TS/SCI with the ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert assessments in Low Observable (LO) and Counter-Low Observable (CLO) technology, supporting SAF/AQL decision-making processes.
  • Provide LO/CLO EXCOM and TSC support staff expertise.
  • Perform technical reviews of industry export applications involving LO and CLO technologies and draft OSD SAPCO export positions.
  • Offer insights and recommendations to enhance advanced air superiority capabilities, weapons systems, and electronic warfare initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant USAF operational experience focused on advanced weapons systems, air superiority, or related fields.
  • Deep expertise in SAF/AQL domains including LO/CLO technology, advanced air systems, and special access programs.
  • Experience with SAP management, foreign military sales, and export compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Defense Studies, or a related field.
  • Prior experience supporting MAJCOM or higher staff.
  • Operational experience with fighters, LO bombers, RPAs, or ISR mission areas.
  • Current TS clearance.
