Description

To assist the Provider in providing the utmost direct/indirect quality care to patients with the end goal of making patients feel as if they are family.

Role and Responsibilities

Clinical and Administrative

  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas
  • Assist with examinations, invasive and non-invasive procedures or treatments
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control
  • Comply with quality assurance practices
  • Screen and follow up on patients test results
  • Collect and process specimens; log specimens
  • Perform diagnostic tests if applicable
  • Obtain patient medical history and vitals
  • Prepare and administer medication (excludes controlled drugs)
  • Maintain accurate medication records
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies
  • Call or enter in prescriptions per physicians orders
  • Maintain drug sample supply on hand; discard appropriately expired samples
  • Assist in general housekeeping duties including weekly scrub-down of all patient care areas
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain logs (i.e. autoclave, eye wash stations and clinical refrigerators)
  • Initiate and process prescription medication prior authorizations
  • Demonstrate awareness of overall clinic operations and proactively assist where needed
  • Assist teammates during high-volume clinic operations without requiring direction

This individual will be cross-trained across all specialties — dental, optometry, podiatry, and audiology — and the role will not involve a high volume of dental work. While some dental support is required, the majority of the work involves assisting our providers across multiple disciplines. Because of this, the role is not ideal for a brand-new graduate, but someone with lighter dental experience who is adaptable and eager to learn may be an excellent fit. We provide full cross-training for the right candidate.
