Description

Build and operate a shared AI platform that powers AI-enabled products and internal workflows. You will own platform capabilities end to end—from defining the problem and designing the solution, to launching in production, monitoring performance with SLOs, and improving reliability, observability, scalability, and cost efficiency. This is a hands-on production engineering role focused on LLM gateways, retrieval systems, agent platforms, evaluation frameworks, developer tools, and security guardrails.

Responsibilities

• Own AI platform deliverables from problem definition through production launch, adoption, and ongoing improvement

• Design, build, and maintain LLM gateways, retrieval systems, agent workflows, evaluation frameworks, and developer tooling

• Define measurable success criteria and service-level objectives (SLOs) using production metrics

• Build reliable, observable, resilient systems with predictable failure handling and incident management

• Create clean interfaces, documentation, reference implementations, and migration paths for platform adoption

• Design secure AI execution environments with permissions, tenant isolation, auditability, and access controls

• Apply distributed systems principles (consistency, idempotency, concurrency management, resilience)

• Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and implement improvements from post-incident reviews

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, Infrastructure, SRE, and Developer Experience teams

• Establish reusable standards and best practices for production-ready AI systems

• Use AI coding tools and coding agents while ensuring outputs meet engineering and quality standards

Requirements

• Practical experience building or operating production AI systems (retrieval platforms, LLM applications, agent systems, or AI developer tools)

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and distributed systems experience

• Understanding of reliability concepts (idempotency, concurrency, consistency, failure modes) and secure multi-tenant architectures

• Knowledge of AI evaluation, retrieval quality, agent reliability, and trade-offs between quality, latency, and cost

• Experience with observability/monitoring and operational targets such as SLOs

• Understanding of secure AI execution (least-privilege access, permission management, auditability, policy enforcement)

• Experience taking solutions from concept to production while being accountable for performance and adoption

• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvement via incident response

• Experience using AI coding tools with independent code review and validation

• Strong communication and collaboration skills
