Description

A hands-on web engineer role focused on building and enhancing modern, responsive web applications. You will own features end-to-end—from technical discovery through production support—translating UX and product requirements into accessible, high-performing digital experiences. You will integrate with REST/GraphQL and other API architectures, with opportunities to contribute to backend services and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Build and enhance responsive web applications using React, TypeScript, and frameworks such as Next.js (and Angular.js)

• Develop reusable components, hooks, services, and application patterns

• Translate product requirements and UX designs into accessible, responsive, and high-performing experiences

• Integrate applications with REST, GraphQL, backend-for-frontend (BFF), and other API architectures

• Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript (with opportunities to work with other languages)

• Own features throughout the lifecycle: discovery and estimation, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support

• Use modern React patterns for composition, state management, data fetching/caching, routing, and client/server rendering

• Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (Vitest, Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Cypress)

• Use modern tooling (Vite, Next.js, Storybook, ESLint, npm/pnpm/Yarn, Nx/Turborepo)

• Use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining human review, security, and quality standards

• Collaborate with UX designers; contribute to component libraries and design systems

• Apply accessibility standards and practices (semantic HTML, keyboard accessibility, ARIA, WCAG guidance)

• Improve performance (code splitting, lazy loading, caching, image optimization, Core Web Vitals)

• Apply secure coding, privacy, and dependency-management practices

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, monitoring, logging, and observability

• Participate in pull requests, code reviews, architecture discussions, and solution estimation

• Communicate technical approaches, tradeoffs, risks, and progress clearly to stakeholders

• Support and mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing

• Work effectively within Agile teams and adapt to changing technologies and requirements

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications

• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern front-end framework, preferably React

• Experience building responsive, component-based UIs using HTML, modern CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript

• Experience developing or integrating with REST APIs (or other modern API architectures)

• React experience with hooks, component composition, state management, routing, and async data handling

• Experience with modern front-end build and development tooling

• Experience writing automated tests (unit/integration/e2e)

• Experience with Git, pull requests, and code review workflows

• Understanding of responsive design, browser standards, accessibility, web performance, and secure development practices

• Experience working with relational or NoSQL data stores and data-driven applications

• Exposure to at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud

• Ability to work with clients and cross-functional teams; communicate technical concepts clearly

• Ability to independently own development tasks/features while collaborating effectively

• Ability to travel as needed
