  • Focus: Consumer protection, privacy, and regulatory counseling across product and go-to-market

Description

You will join the Product, Privacy and Regulatory Legal team as a practical, versatile attorney partnering with product and engineering from early design through launch and post-launch review. The role spans consumer protection, privacy/data use and consent, marketing and subscriptions/advertising practices, and international and regulatory escalations. You will own matters independently, turn recurring questions into durable guidance, and build scalable legal infrastructure for product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary legal partner for consumer products and features from early design through launch and post-launch review

  • Advise on consumer protection issues (unfair/deceptive practices, disclosures, pricing, subscriptions, renewals/refunds, promotions, advertising claims, dark patterns, customer support practices)

  • Review marketing, growth, and advertising initiatives, including adtech/martech integrations and audience/email/messaging campaigns

  • Counsel product and engineering teams on privacy, data use, consent, retention, security, AI transparency, age-related protections, and other legal requirements

  • Lead legal review of cross-functional launches and translate complex requirements into practical product/operational choices

  • Support regulator and consumer complaint responses with state AGs, competition authorities, privacy authorities, and other regulators globally

  • Assess incidents and escalations crossing product, privacy, consumer protection, contractual, and regulatory areas

  • Monitor legal developments impacting AI products and online services, then convert them into playbooks and product requirements

  • Build scalable legal infrastructure (templates, review standards, decision records, training, self-service guidance)

  • Flex across the Product, Privacy and Regulatory Legal portfolio as risks and priorities change

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school, or LL.M. or equivalent law degree

  • Current authorization to practice law in the U.S. state where you are located

  • At least five years of relevant legal experience (law firm, government agency, or in-house)

  • Meaningful consumer protection or product counseling experience

  • Strong command of U.S. consumer protection law and enforcement principles, including FTC Act Section 5 and state UDAP laws

  • Experience in multiple areas such as subscriptions/auto-renewal, advertising/marketing, privacy/data protection, payments, promotions, platform regulation, or AI governance

  • Ability to lead product/regulatory matters independently

  • Excellent judgment and ability to communicate risk clearly without unnecessary business delays

  • Strong legal writing skills and ability to translate legal requirements for product, engineering, and business teams

  • Comfort learning technical systems and asking precise questions about product/data flows and controls

  • Hands-on, curious, low-ego attitude and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment

  • Genuine interest in AI products and the legal issues created by how people use them
