Description

Support physicians and clinical staff in a neurology clinic by ensuring efficient patient flow, assisting with patient care activities, and completing related administrative tasks. You will prepare patients and exam rooms, obtain vital signs, document visit details, and escalate significant changes to the provider or RN. You will also assist with delegated clinical procedures and perform specialty-area tasks as directed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient patient flow: escort patients, verify identity with two identifiers, prepare for exam, obtain vital signs, document reason for visit, and update/confirm allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information
• Notify the provider/RN promptly of significant vital sign changes or acute symptoms
• Set up and prepare equipment/supplies for visits; clean and prepare exam rooms for the next patient
• Assist with procedures per protocols, including ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, procedure tray setup, specimen collection, and CLIA-waived testing
• Prepare and stock exam rooms; follow protocols for disinfecting/sterilizing equipment and instruments
• Participate in environmental safety rounds; monitor vaccine/medication inventory
• Monitor and maintain equipment/instruments per clinic guidelines; assist with ordering supplies and dispose of expired items
• Follow office opening/closing procedures
• Provide professional, friendly interaction to support patient satisfaction and effective communication with patients and the care team (in office and by phone)
• Perform delegated procedures common to the specialty area safely and efficiently; complete other assigned duties

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Current Medical Assistant certification in one of: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA (or documented eligibility to write one of the eligible certification exams)
• BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association accredited)
• Zero to two years of relevant experience
• Strong computer skills
• Within the first six months of employment, obtain one of the listed certifications (CMA, RMA/NCMA, CCMA, NRCMA) after up to two test attempts, with signed onboarding acknowledgement
