Description

Lead aviation safety activities in a complex air carrier and/or general aviation environment, ensuring high-level safety compliance with regulatory standards. Manage front-line staff and day-to-day work planning, training, performance, scheduling, and administrative processes. Support investigations, hazard identification, and risk management to remove barriers and drive effective stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Identify hazards, manage safety risk, and promote compliance with FAA regulatory standards through transparency of data exchange.
• Set clear performance standards and lead accountability, professionalism, and individual responsibility among subordinates.
• Plan, prioritize, direct, communicate, task, train, and schedule work; manage time and attendance, leave approvals, performance evaluations, and corrective/disciplinary actions.
• Enable problem solving by ensuring subordinates address challenges with clear roles and decision responsibilities; delegate and empower decentralization.
• Make resourcing decisions across teams and adjust plans to meet changing conditions; manage office equipment accountability.
• Conduct and support budget planning and justification, projecting near- and long-term needs and reallocating resources among projects/programs as required.
• Meet regularly with stakeholders to identify impediments and integrate feedback into services.
• Communicate effectively across groups and maintain productive stakeholder partnerships.

Requirements

• US citizenship.
• Selective Service registration (for males born after 12/31/1959).
• Submit SF50.
• Submit copies of all certificates and licenses with the application (copy both sides if applicable).
• General 1825-series requirements: no more than two separate incidents involving FAA regulatory violations in the last 5 years; valid state driver’s license; English fluency; no interfering chemical dependencies/drug abuse; high school diploma (or equivalent).
• Medical requirements: safe ability to perform duties with required vision and hearing; no physical conditions that would interfere with safe passenger-carrying duties; additional FAA second-class medical requirements if required to participate in aircraft operations.
• Specialized experience/training/certification requirements based on assigned specialty (Air Carrier Operations vs General Aviation Operations), including minimum flight time and certificate/rating requirements, professional skill checks, and accident limits.
