Description

Provide emergency medical care to Veteran patients on a temporary, intermittent Fee Basis schedule. Duties include evaluation, diagnosis, documentation, routine diagnostics/procedures, stabilization, and disposition of emergent cases, including specific emergency procedures as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform and record clinical histories and physical examinations
• Provide patient care, complete documentation, and perform routine diagnostic exams, procedures, and therapeutic interventions
• Evaluate, diagnose, provide treatment, and render clinical opinions; complete medical records
• Document care and communicate with patients/families and other care providers in accordance with privileges and licensure scope
• Request consultations and technical procedures by other physicians and qualified consultants/technicians
• Perform arterial punctures for blood testing and cannulation for blood pressure monitoring
• Manage non-emergent and emergent airways, including mechanical ventilation, per VHA NORAM guidance
• Provide moderate sedation per applicable requirements
• Perform wound management: local anesthesia, foreign body removal, incision and drainage, wound repair
• Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition for patients with emergent conditions
• Conduct women’s health examinations
• Interpret ECGs
