Quick Facts

  • Role: Senior React.js UI AEM Developer

  • Experience: 6–9 years frontend development; 4–5 years React frontend development on AEM

Description

Build responsive, accessible, high-performance user interfaces in React and TypeScript and integrate them into AEM so content authors can edit and configure UI. You will develop reusable component libraries from Figma, customize AEM Core Components/templates, consume AEM content via GraphQL/Content Fragments in React/Next.js, and modernize legacy AEM UIs. You will also own frontend build tooling for the AEM ui.frontend module, improve Core Web Vitals and WCAG 2.1 AA, and write unit/component tests while collaborating in Agile.

Responsibilities

  • Build responsive, accessible, high-performance React/TypeScript UI

  • Create reusable React component libraries and design-system components from Figma designs

  • Integrate React components into AEM (SPA Editor or headless delivery)

  • Customize look/behavior/frontend of AEM Core Components and templates

  • Consume AEM content via GraphQL and Content Fragments in React/Next.js

  • Lead or contribute to AEM frontend modernization (e.g., migrating legacy jQuery/HTL UI to React)

  • Own frontend build tooling, bundling, and asset optimization in AEM ui.frontend module

  • Improve Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), and cross-browser quality

  • Write unit and component tests; participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies

Requirements

  • 6–9 years in frontend development, including 4–5 years delivering React-based frontend work on AEM

  • Not a fit: candidates focused primarily on AEM backend development (e.g., Java, OSGi services, Sling Models, servlets, workflows, dispatcher configuration, or AEM administration)

  • React expertise (hooks, context, state management such as Redux/Zustand) with strong performance optimization

  • Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript

  • Strong HTML5/CSS3/Sass and modern styling approaches (CSS-in-JS or Tailwind), responsive/mobile-first design

  • Component-driven development with design systems; Storybook experience

  • Testing with Jest and React Testing Library

  • Build tooling knowledge (Webpack, Vite, npm/yarn)

  • REST and GraphQL API consumption

  • Web performance, accessibility, and SEO fundamentals

  • Git with CI/CD basics; Agile/Scrum collaboration

  • AEM experience: 4–5 years on AEM 6.5 and/or AEM as a Cloud Service across multiple implementations/modernization projects

  • Understanding of author-editable component enablement in AEM (SPA Editor SDK, MapTo, model.json) or headless AEM delivery to React/Next.js

  • Comfortable working with clientlibs, the ui.frontend module, and enough HTL to read/adapt existing components

  • Familiarity with Content Fragments and Experience Fragments from a consumption standpoint

Benefits

  • Build and modernize author-editable AEM frontends with reusable design-system components

  • Ownership of frontend build tooling and performance/accessibility improvements

  • Collaborative environment using Agile ceremonies and code reviews
